About

Caroline Gonzales is an abstract artist based in San Antonio, Texas, whose work explores the emotional landscapes of life’s obstacles, challenges, and celebrations. Her art reflects a deeply personal journey, with each piece—whether singular or part of a series—emerging from her introspective process. By delving into her emotions and realizations, Gonzales transforms her blank canvas into an orchestrated expression of color, form, and movement, each element playing a pivotal role in her creative conclusion.

Gonzales earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art from Texas A&M University-Kingsville in 2015. After returning to San Antonio, she met her husband, Albert Gonzales, and together they forged a shared passion for the arts. Their collaborative spirit extends into both their personal and professional lives, where they support one another’s individuality while working on larger business ventures within the art world.

From September 2017 to January 2025, Gonzales co-owned Southtown Art Gallery with her husband. In 2019, they made the decision to consolidate their gallery and studios into a unified creative space, which also became the site for Gonzales’ evolving body of work. That same year, they welcomed their first child, an experience that brought about transformative changes in her art. In February 2021, Gonzales made the leap to pursue her art career full-time, marking a pivotal moment in her creative journey.

From August 2023 to December 2024, Gonzales was a resident artist at Clamp Light Studios & Gallery. In December 2024, the Gonzales family welcomed their second child, prompting another shift in direction. They decided to close Southtown Art Gallery and move into a larger studio space off West Mitchell in January 2025. This new workspace allows Gonzales the freedom to explore multidisciplinary techniques and offers opportunities for greater community engagement.

In addition to her studio work, Gonzales co-owns and co-organizes Art Collecting Mixer, an innovative platform that brings curated art exhibitions to non-traditional spaces. Founded in 2019, the mission of Art Collecting Mixer is to provide artists with new avenues for networking and exposure, while offering collectors and art enthusiasts an exciting way to engage with and acquire art. The Mixers have taken place in intimate settings such as private homes, restaurants, and even an Airbnb, fostering a dynamic and interactive experience for all involved.
